Gran Canaria has many tourist resorts. These resorts offer the tourist a large amount of bar, restaurants and night life. They are two main resorts which are the biggest and
offer the most in night life entertainment, these are Playa del Ingles and the commercial centre of Puerto Rico.
Below is a break down of main resorts in Gran Canaria.
Puerto Rico

Puerto Rico has a wide selection of shops, bars and restaurants for you to enjoy, and you can take a pleasant stroll past the lido and through the park from the wide crescent shaped beach.
Like a lot of the resorts found in the canary Islands, Puerto Rico is very hilly and will make it difficult for people with walking difficulties to get around, if you are going to stay choose your hotel/apartment carefully.
Playa del Ingles
Playa del Ingles is well known as being the liveliest resorts found in Gran Canaria and is very popular with the younger generation wanting late nights. Playa Del Ingles is not just for the young, there is a great deal of tourist attractions
that can be found in and around the resorts.
Playa Del Ingles does translate to Beach of the English so if you are wanting a fun packed holiday with late nights this is the place to be, if on the other hand you are after some Spanish culture, this will not be the place for you.
San Agustin
San Agustin is located at the eastern end of the strip of beaches which forms the southern coast of Gran Canaria. This resorts is very quiet compared to the first two making it a better option for families to visit. It's still only a short drive
from some livly night life so if you do want a change you don't have to go far.
Maspalomas
Maspalomas is at Gran Canaria's most southern tip and is the most famous holiday resort and most popular. The town of is formed by the pond of the same name, the dunes and the palm tree grove. Maspalomas is home of the famous sand dunes and a very popular beach; the central area is a naturist beach. The main attraction of Maspalomas is the stunning 3km of sand dunes and the excellent sandy beaches and this is probably one of the most beautiful beaches on Gran Canaria. This is a lovely beach but the current here is strong so if you are going into the water do take extra care. Maspalomas is a fantastic resort with everything you could want either on your doorstep or a cheap taxi ride away.

Situated only 10 minutes from the bustle of Playa Del Ingles, Maspalomas with its low-rise buildings and leisurely, relaxed atmosphere is a very different holiday resort. Maspalomas is extremely popular with German and British visitors who want to be close to limitless activities and still have a bolt-hole.
Puerto de Mogan
Puerto de Mogan 45mins from Las Palmas and is a lovely place at the southwest coast of Gran Canaria. It is one of the prettiest resorts on Gran Canaria and good weather is very likely, with the south of the island getting the best of it.
Puerto de Mogan is an old fishing port that has been converted into a tourist destination and so is a blend of old and new buildings, all painted white. Even though much of the resort is modern, it still has considerable charm.
Puerto de Mogan is ideal for those seeking to relax in a low-rise charming resort where swimming, sunbathing, wining and dining are the main activities. Puerto de Mogan is mostly pedestrianised, so makes for pleasant strolling around it's narrow streets.
The resort is packed with excellent restaurants serving local fish landed at the fishing harbour and other Canarian and international specialities.
